We went to Mah Jongs by Chef Mike on Saturday. They were so crowded at the food court in South Coast Plaza. Mah Jongs looks like a separate restaurant from the food court. We got our table right away from Mah Jongs. I really like Mah Jongs's interior design with the Mahjong graphics, which is very creative and unique! The food is great here, too. Homemade Chicken Soup ($16) was delicious. Loco Loco Oxtail Gravy ($26) was excellent. You must try this. Fish Tacos($20) was good. Shrimp Scallop Spaghetti ($34) was great. Asian Chicken Salad ($19) was great as well. For the dessert, I really love Cheesecake Beignets ($14), it's very unique and yummy! The service was excellent! Our waitress was so friendly and attentive! They also have a bar. We had a pleasant dining experience at Mah Jongs and will definitely visit here again.

While shopping at South Coast Plaza, it was lunch time right around 12:45pm. We arrived at MAH JONG's located inside Bloomingdale Food court. All other food court restaurants were already packed with customers but MAH JONG was still empty. At first we hasited but after looking at the review we decided to give it a try. We were a party of four and quickly seated near the Kitchen Window and headed to the menu. We were quickly handed a menu and asked what we would like to drink. After ordering drinks, we spoke with the waitress and asked for some suggestions and decided to order the following dishes: Homemade Chicken Soup - Great, we were asked by the waitress if we were going to split the soup. The chicken soup was the best thing in the cold weather and each cup there were big chunky pieces of chicken. The flavor of the soup is perfect. Asian Chicken Salad - Great, it was refreshing and tasty with huge portions. I've forgotten to take a picture until we are almost finished and took a close shot of what is left. Side Fried Cauliflower - Good, it was pretty good and flavorful and yet not too salty. Loco Moco Oxtail Gravy - Great, a lot of good reviews and was recommended by the waitress. It was pretty tasty and the seasoning was already soaked into every piece of meat and the rice. Fish Tacos - Good, it is a decent and tasty fish taco. Shrimp Scallop Spaghetti - Great, recommended by the waitress that we can order this or Risotto. This italian dish wasn't heavy but tasty and not salty. Cheesecake Beignets - Great, this is also recommended by the waitress, it is a great not too sweet dessert. It is warm and tasty. Need to eat it while it's still hot. We were really surprised with the service we received by only one waitress to cover the whole place and a bartender. Waitress is super friendly, attentive and nice. After we sat down the place started to fill up quickly. Based on this visit, food and service I would rate it a 5 stars.

Great experience! Visited with my family and had the pleasure of speaking to Chef Mike about his time in SF and his culinary journey to Mah Jongs. We tried the oxtail loco moco, the bone-in oxtail dish, chicken soup and beignets. All so delicious and with such huge portions! Want to go back to try the hoisin baby back ribs!

Ooo this place is a little hidden away at the food court passed Bloomingdale's but they know how to cook! Their fish tacos were great, and the salsa made in house was spicy and flavorful. We like to stop by for some small bites here when we're shopping at South Coast. Service is fast and friendly as well.
